Conferences

With funds from the Burdick-Vary Bequest, the Institute periodically sponsors conferences and symposia, which are open to the public. Recent Burdick-Vary conferences have included: "Critical Theories of Quentin Skinner," "Science and Theology in Medieval Islam, Judaism, and Christendom," "Ancient Greek Art and Iconography,""Epidemics and their Social Context," "Popular Cinema: The Very Idea," "Cartography in the European Renaissance," "An Historian's Legacy: George L. Mosse and Recent Historical Research on Fascism, Society and Culture," "Art, Philosophy, and Politics," and "What's New in American Poetry?" "Renaissance Esthetics/ Contemporary Esthetics."
